The Professional Music Producers Association of Canada (PMPAC) is a groundbreaking national member-based organization dedicated to advancing the interests of Canadian music producers across all career stages and genres. PMPAC focuses on data-informed research, development, and innovation to drive the evolution of music production while supporting long-term sustainability for producers throughout the country.

Founded by acclaimed producer Byram "Slakah the Beatchild" Joseph, PMPAC addresses the unique challenges producers face in their multifaceted roles as songwriters, composers, engineers, mentors, and entrepreneurs. The organization recognizes that when these challenges remain unaddressed, they impact not only producers' well-being but the health of the entire music industry.

Through targeted advocacy, professional development, and nationwide community-building, PMPAC strengthens the essential role of hardworking music producers. With a data-driven focus on fair compensation, recognition, and resource access, the organization aims to reflect the true value that producers bring to the creative process.

The organization made its official industry debut during 2025 JUNO Week in Vancouver—with results that exceeded all expectations.

​

On March 29th, the legendary Warehouse Studio was transformed as over 150 of Canada's top music professionals gathered for PMPAC's inaugural Music Producers Canada JUNO Week Mixer. Hosted at Bryan Adams' iconic recording studio, this sold-out event reimagined industry networking by creating an interactive playground for creative collaboration.

"We envisioned a gathering that broke the mould of traditional industry events," said PMPAC co-founder Byram Joseph. "Our goal was to create an authentic, dynamic space that genuinely reflects the creativity and innovation producers bring to music."

​

PMPAC members showcased projects in the studio's renowned control room while spontaneous jam sessions unfolded at a dedicated station equipped with synthesizers, drums, and keyboards—captivating everyone, including studio owner Bryan Adams.

​

Musical highlights featured performances from the acclaimed hip-hop jazz ensemble Game.Set.Trap and an energizing playlist curated by producer Junia-T. An interview-style panel sparked meaningful dialogue on industry challenges, with Vancouver's award-winning producer Chin Injeti emphasizing the critical importance of community building.

"Connections are at the heart of everything we do," remarked Injeti. "Events like this empower us all to move forward as a united community."

PMPAC's successful launch at JUNO Week marks just the beginning. The association will continue building momentum with upcoming events across Canada.
